Dr. Lesley Williams completed dental school and spent five years as a general dentist following which she completed three additional years of specialized graduate training in orthodontics. Dr. Williams has maintained a specialty orthodontic practice in British Columbia since 1997.
Dr. Williams is an experienced and active leader in the orthodontic profession. She is nationally and internationally recognized by professional bodies and her peers with the following important qualifications and accolades:
- Certified Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
- Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada
- Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics
- Chief Examiner (Orthodontics) for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
- Examiner for The American Board of Orthodontists.
- Former President of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (representing 2,900 orthodontists from the 4 western Canadian provinces and 8 western American states).
- Active member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists.

Arthur A. Dugoni Lifetime Achievement Award
Lesley Williams, DMD 1989, was recently awarded the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists Arthur A. Dugoni Lifetime Achievement Award. She has been recognized for her exceptional personal effort to advance the art and science of the orthodontic specialty. This prestigious award has been given only ten times since 2006. Dr. Williams is the first woman and first Canadian to receive this award.
This PCSO award recognizes exceptional personal effort by an individual to advance the art and science of the orthodontic specialty. The Arthur A. Dugoni Lifetime Achievement Award is given only under exceptional circumstances. It is presented at the PCSO Annual Session. This award is not necessarily given each year.
Criteria for the award are:
- Recipient must be or have been a member of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists;
- Recipient must have at least 20 years in the practice of orthodontics; The individual must exemplify the highest ethical standards in all aspects of life and the practice of orthodontics;
- The individual must have lived his/her professional life committed to the pursuit of excellence;
- The recipient must have made outstanding achievements, as well as, significant and extraordinary contributions to the PCSO and/or the specialty of orthodontics. Extraordinary humanitarian or community service related to the field of orthodontics will also be considered.
Education And Professional Memberships
Dr. Lesley Williams, a dedicated orthodontist at South Surrey Smiles, exemplifies great passion and commitment to her field. She began her learning at the University of British Columbia, completing their dental program in 1989, before receiving specialized training in orthodontics at the University of Alberta. This educational path, combined with a drive to provide excellent orthodontic services to her patients, is further evidenced by her American Board of Orthodontics certification. Dr. Lesley Williams' practice strives to deliver comfortable orthodontic care, enabling patients to achieve the confident, beautiful smiles they've always desired.
