Ride to Conquer Cancer Bike Giveaway
We here at South Surrey Smiles are proud to have taken part in the recent 2015 Ride to Conquer Cancer charity bike ride. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our patients who graciously donated to this worthy cause. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to raise $4200.00 in donations from patients alone, which we were happy to add to the $245,500.00 in total donations to the cancer charity. All the donations will go towards clinicians, scientists and researchers working with the BC Cancer Foundation in order to improve the lives of those affected by cancer, and to someday put an end to this terrible disease for good.
As we were collecting donations for the charity bike ride, we thought it would be fun to hold a little contest as a way to give back to our wonderful patients who were kind enough to donate to the charity. In keeping with the bike riding theme, we decided to hold a draw for a brand new specialized Hardrock mountain bike. For every $25.00 donated by each of our patients, we entered them into the draw for this top of the line mountain bike and announced the winner after the ride. This year our lucky winner was Noah P. Noah’s mom actually took her son’s win as an opportunity to have a little fun with him and set him up for a big surprise. Mrs. B. told her son he had to come to our office to get new braces put on, when he was really only coming here to pick up his brand new bike! Noah was completely surprised, and extremely happy to have won the bike, since he didn’t have a bike of his own at the time.
Once again, we would like to congratulate Noah on his win and thank his family, along with the rest of our generous patients for their gracious donations. This year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer turned out to be another resounding success, thanks to the kindness of the many people who donated throughout the Vancouver and Surrey areas. With the continued support and generosity of our community and many others like it, we will certainly someday be able to truly conquer cancer once and for all.
