How to Travel with Invisalign?

Are you tired of the endless rain and feel like its time for a holiday? We know the feeling. If you have some travel plans on the horizon, you might be wondering what it will be like to travel with Invisalign so we have designed a plan to help!  This handy guide to help ease some of the worry so you can enjoy your time away.

Invisalign Travel Kit

Heres a checklist you can use when travelling with Invisalign:

  • Your current Invisalign tray and case
  • An extra case
  • Your previous tray and your next tray if you have it. (Consult with your orthodontist if you are going to be gone for an extended period.)
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Floss
  • Mouthwash

Remember: if you are flying, you will need travel sizes of toothpaste and mouthwash so you dont have to throw them away when you go through security. If you forget or have to get rid of anything, dont delay in replacing it when you arrive at your destination.

Its also nice to have handy sizes. You will likely be out and about most of the time so youll want to keep your kit with you at all times.

Travelling usually means that you will likely be eating out more than normal. Thats great! Trying out new restaurants is fun and exciting, and a great way to get to know a new place. But it means that youll have to pay close attention to your Invisalign trays so don’t forget your Invisalign case!

The same rules apply, wear your Invisalign tray during travel at all times except for eating, drinking and brushing. You should aim to wear your trays for 22 hours a day.

Of course, the reality is that this gets difficult on holidays. If you find yourself restaurant hopping, eating and drinking more frequently throughout the day, take good care to brush and floss (or at least give your mouth a good rinse) between meals or drinks and try to keep your trays in as much as possible.

Consult with your orthodontist before travelling with Invisalign

As mentioned above, talk to your orthodontist before you take off. If you will have to miss a scheduled appointment, make sure you communicate that so you can reschedule and can talk about how to make up for lost if you need.

Finallyenjoy yourself! Holidays are meant to take the stress off so get into good habits before you leave and allow yourself to relax.
