Braces for Children

A perfect smile doesn’t always happen all by itself. Sometimes it needs a nudge in the right direction. Sometimes, of course, kids need braces. Even if your child’s teeth look great, we strongly recommend an early screening for all children. Aesthetics is not the only thing we are good at, function is #1 and we want to make sure that your child is set up to keep their teeth for their entire lifetime. Timing is very important in orthodontics, early screening can help simplify future treatment. Most of these screening appointments will simply wind up with some free advice. However, if your child does end up needing treatment, then catching issues early will help save your son or daughter from a complicated future.

When children are still growing,

A screening appointment provides a perfect opportunity to pursue certain treatment options that aren’t nearly as effective later in life. In other words, early intervention can catch an issue before it becomes a problem. Parents will find these screening appointments helpful. We can check the eruption and development on the adult teeth and check to see if your child has the right number of teeth. Parents and children will learn all about the different types of braces and what solutions are available to address orthodontic concerns. We firmly believe that all parents should be educated about their children’s dental development so that they can help to encourage a beautiful, healthy smile that will last a lifetime.

Braces are a common treatment used to straighten teeth. While they straighten the teeth, they can also be used to improve the way the teeth align together between the upper and lower jaws. Braces are used to correct problems associated with the bite of the teeth. Of course braces are used to create beautiful smiles but more importantly, braces create an ideal environment for your teeth to function properly. This will set your child’s teeth up to avoid unnecessary wear and tear so that they can keep their teeth for their entire lifetime.

Please keep in mind that

There are other appliances that are used to correct certain issues. Every child is different so each treatment plan is slightly different. Your child may not require the same treatment as the neighbour despite the fact that they both have a few crooked teeth! Until you begin the process of screening, there’s no way to know if or what specific treatments may be helpful for your child.

So is it the right time for braces? You’ll never know until you make that screening appointment and go over all your child’s options with a orthodontic specialist. Remember, that when the teeth are still coming into place, there is a good chance that early intervention can prevent a more elaborate treatment. This can save you time and money. Your orthodontist will be able to provide you with more information. We provide free consultations requiring no referral. Be sure to bring your family in soon.
